Theory in practice music Video shoot

Today we did a video shoot for a DVD we're gonna use as a fishing line to get us a gig for our final music performance project.

We all came in, the lights and camera equipment were already set up. In order to make it look good we moved all the gear on the other side of the room. I handled setting up the bass amp and tuning both the basses we used. I then moved onto setting up microphones and sound checking them. We decided to run through a couple of the tracks for a camera and lighting test, it went very well. We were all excited to do it for real.

The tracks we wanted to do was Duality by Slipknot, The Ghostbusters theme by Ray Parker Jr, Rolling by Limp Bizkit, and finally F**k me pumps by Amy Winehouse. We ran through Duality twice and we then moved on to Limp Bizkit to actually record and we shot two takes of it. We ran through the Ghostbusters theme twice aswell. we record two takes of each and time was running short so we had to hurry and film Duality. By this time I was quite nackered and Duality is an fast paced anger filled song that require's alot of energy. I wasn't as good that time around and I was a little gutted about it. Still, I gave it my all and I think it came out well. Not as good as I would've wanted it to be but maybe we can run through it next week.

We got a good load of decent footage and we may be adding more variety to the final mix of the DVD.

2nd Official week of rehearsals.

Today we first ran through James's selected track 'Duality' by Slipknot.

The group consisted of:
Me - Vocals
Pete - Drums
James - Lead Guitar
Davi - Bass

The rehearsals went very well, I feel we have really got our act together for this track. We had stayed behind to rehearse it for a few hours the day before so by the time it was official rehearsal time the next day we had it by the balls. It honestly came natural to the group because it was a song we were all familiar with personally. The structure of the song and the song itself is a very aggresive one. It all came very naturally.

The second song we ran through was Pete's track 'Rollin' by Limp Bizkit.

This group consisted of:
Me - Vocals
Mali - Vocals
Pete - Drums
Davi - Bass
James - Guitar
Louise - Guitar (but we had to work without the second guitar because she has been absent for a good while now. and to be honest the rehearsal went better for everyone that way.

We had worked through this song a couple of times the previous week, The fast progression made on Pete's track has made it almost performable for the upcoming show on March 16th. Me and Mali we're exchanging ideas for the raped vocals and what eventually happened was we were taking turns on lines through verses to not only make it sound like a joint effort but to make the track flow more vocally. Musically its all together James, Davi, and Peter's musicianship on the track is so far immaculate.

Stay tuned for next week kids!!

TERM 2 MAJOR MUSIC PROJECT MEETING:

Today on the 6h of January 2012,
We had a brainstorming session with myself, Pete & Chris. No one else showed.
We're to have a gig during the course of term 2 a major assignment consisting of mainly brainstorming ideas on the fly of what would become a potential gig that would not only be rememberal but fun for the audience and for ourselves as a performing group.

Here are the ideas that we had come up with during this brainstorm session:

- Emailed the theatre as a backup venue (In case we're not able to do an external performance)
- We need a provesional, a date (last week of term posible?)
- The idea of getting a charity involved I.E Love music hate racism or Oxjam to do a performance on their behalf to either an outside venue or even in the theatre.
- Doing the performance in a school Bacons college, harris academy, city of london academy.
- Theme & Design!!!
- Job roles assigned to everyone.

We are now awaiting contact from the chosen charity so we can then pitch our idea to the schools or even other outside venues.
